Ordered in November 2018, the bikes are here. Finally.
It was a long wait. Even though we knew it would be, it still felt like a long time. There were some delays getting through customs in Melbourne. No real surprises there. Stink bugs apparently. Finally, we picked up the bikes at the weekend, from Dolomiti eBikes near Ivanhoe.
Seeing the two Homage GX Rohloffs side by side was impressive. Someone mentioned on a forum recently that their R&M Supercharger looked like the Terminator of bikes. The Homages are no different. They look like they mean business.
After a quick chat and run through of the various parts, we made our way, a little nervously out onto the main road. But only briefly as we quickly switched to the bike trail and away from the traffic.
There’s a fair bit to take in over and above an acoustic bike. The level of assist, the electronic gears, the Intuvia display, etc. We made an effort not to play with too many things and instead concentrate on riding safely.
Initial impressions are good. Very comfortable ride (being full suspension), solid and stable. Our confidence grew as made our way back; about 25km in total. The sun was out and we stopped for some brunch along the way. A very nice Sunday afternoon ride and relaxed induction into the world of eBikes. We can’t wait to go further afield and explore more.
We’ll post about our experiences a week on next. For now we’re busy reading the many manuals and getting used to all the buttons and controls.
